Oculus Rift releases in may 2016 at 600 dollars

Postby GlobusDiablo » Wed Jan 06, 2016 6:43 pm

https://shop.oculus.com/en-us/cart/

Personally, I think it's a bit too expensive.

GTX970 minium recommended, but I'll be getting next generation Pascal for extra grunt.

I hope to be picking up the Oculus second hand from some poor motion sick commander... :)

My 980TI should be ok...
But yea for something that won't arrive for 5+ months It's getting a bit expensive...

But I want to try VR so bad.....

Rule 1: Pillage. Then burn.
Rule 2: No such thing as overkill, as long as there are reloads.

Not going to support facebook with $600. HTC vive should be out a month earlier, and seems to work with ED too. Don't know the price of it.
I play on PC, in the Mobius PVE Eurasia group.

Sweet piece of kit you got there. :)

I agree on the urge thing, but Vive and Project Morpheus are also slated for arrival this year, so let's see what happens... :)

Going to wait a few years before going VR when the industry is a bit better developed. The future of gaming looks amazing.

OR is only 2160x1200, that's why a 970 can handle it. I think I want something with higher resolution and is smaller and lighter. Next gen. Or Next, next gen.
It's time to give this another go.

Yeah the 980ti will work well, I would be itching to get the htc vive if I had that gpu, but I'm waiting to see who comes out on top with the next gen gpu's. 2016 is exciting for tech in general and about time!

I've decided to wait a while after seeing the price for OR yesterday.

The same goes for me. It will be interesting to see what the HTC Vive will cost.
Including shipping the OR costs about 7250 NOK. That is nearly 3 times what I paid for the GTX970 card...

Did that 970 fall of the back of a truck or something ?
3500 nok is not 1\3 of 7250, it's close to half though :P

That's the rub, from what I hear about vive pricing so far, has been "considerably more than the oculus"...

Meh, I'l just wait and see I suppose, and suffer on with my 34" ultra wide monitor a while longer....
