I had the same exact problem in beta when I launched the 1.5 beta instead of the 2.0 beta.

I hope this doesn't sound patronising as that's not me. I can just see how that mistake could be made

'Actually i do have horizons. I press on ED 64bit. There is inly 64bit and 32bit in my launcher but yes I already purchased horizons beta so i assumed i have the horizon game when it's out, right?

I have a Planetary Landing Suite module installed in my ships and I don't have Horizons. Like I said, my game behaves exactly as the OP described, hence I was making the obvious suggestion, but trying to be subtle about it :)

Ok guys, got it. I didnt install my horizons. So elite dangerous allows you to get close and still let u OC the airless planets but cant land. Thanks. What do i do without you guys..

Maybe it's a gentle reminder that you can't land on planets unless you buy Horizons.

Although it is sold as two games, the 64 bit version is actually one and the same. Your account determines if you see horizon in your Launcher. It seems that if you don't buy horizon they only disable planetary landings.
