True but most bandwidth hungry and large files are graphical, textures and what not and I doubt they are tweaking those for as long as they do.
What ever changes made until launch can be patched in with or before the "unlock" procedure finishes.

Personally I don't mind, I got a 80\80 fiber optic connection, and a 7 gig download takes less than twelve minutes ;)

7 gig download "should" take less than 12 minutes - in an ideal p2p network this is FD we are talking about lol

I am on a 55/15 VDSL and the last time I had to wipe everything and reinstall it took about 20 minutes. Mind you this was not on a patch day and not during prime time for people all trying to DL it. Even under those conditions, 30-40 max.
I really do think that is very much dependant on AWS load. And I think I am lucky that in my area there seems to be a lighter demand on the servers that feed me the downloads.

If it a Non-Steam Install, they are in the Bindings Directory here:

C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Bindings
Or in Windows Speak:
%AppData%\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Bindings

Notice the Space, not the Underscore. All those are your customs, so just dupe the directory. The other one with the underscore is where your going to find your AppConfig.XML/GraphicsConfig.XML/AppConfigLocal.XML/GraphicsConfigLocal.XML files.

C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Local\Frontier_Developments\Products\FORC-FDEV-D-XXXX
Or
%AppData%\Local\Frontier_Developments\Products\FORC-FDEV-D-XXXX

The XXXX depends on when you bought the game. Alpha/Beta/Release. Release is 1010.

Thinking about snagging the test server one.. as I notice my hud and everything is the way it should be.. and I added SRV bindings

I found the AppConfig.xml & GraphicsConfig.xml in (my D drive)/Program Files (x86)/Frontier/ED Launch/Products/FORC-FDEV-D-1010

Did you use the Steam installer or the FD One?

Strange then, unless you forced it to install on the D drive when you set it up. Normally its C drive for the launcher and the game itself downloads to the %AppData% defined by windows.

My C: (120GB SSD) is exclusively for windoze, I force everything else to install onto D: (2TB Western Digital) & I have E: (2TB) for all my music, movies, pix etc etc.
