OP, I'm glad you had fun and made a friend. I occasionally dive into a CZ on an unpopular side myself, mostly in opposition of the empire. *shushes the hissing imperials*
Anyway, for many of us Mobius is just a place where we can interact with other players that are less likely to be trolls who will blow up your type 9 for jollies. I don't mind a fight, but I'm not here as a toy for internet psychos and sadists.
