Also went the CH setup. But even though it's as awesome as the python itself it is pricy.
The only thing I can't do with it is type so I'm absolutely loving it.

As for price, well it's as expensive as the warthog and an X52 since I just had to get the pedals as well. So probably a moot suggestion.

just thinking about it my hotas setup is worth about half of my pc...

I have the X-55 and love it. The metal switches are momentary, and move up and down. Personally, I would have preferred to have them be true toggles and move side to side so I could flick all of them with my thumb easier, but I still like them.

Worth noting, the throttle and stick should easily accommodate the hands of someone who can palm a pumpkin like a basketball. My hands are not nearly that large, but I can still reach all the buttons on the stick, I just have to reach for some of them instead of having my thumb naturally rest on them.

The throttle is magnificent, I just wish the throttle lock peg was a bit longer. You kind of have to do it on purpose, but it's possible to wiggle the throttles free of each other. It's quite easy to get them to move enough to push the locking peg out a bit, while they don't totally separate though.

The stick is very nice, and very accurate. Almost too accurate if you don't set a small deadzone in the center. I also recommend spending five bucks on silicone-teflon lubricant to put between the cone that the spring rests on, and the shaft of the stick that runs through it. After a few weeks of them rubbing together, you'll almost get a detent in the stick motion, which can actually be helpful for micro-adjustments to movement, but I'm not comfortable with that kind of wear and tear. Just make sure whatever lubricant you use is good on plastic. There are suggestions for this HOTAS on google.

I kind of wish the thing was made of metal, but for being plastic, it just feels nice. Definitely made a difference in my combat ability, and it feels more like a simulator than a video game joystick. Other joysticks may work perfectly well, but I definitely recommend the Rhino.

Um, no.

The CH pro throttle/stick will set you back about $200 total. The warthog is $400. So, half price.

Also, as you said, if you go warthog, you need pedals, as there's nothing easily reachable to act as a rudder. So you'd have to add even more to that $400.

Whereas the CH has a microstick on the throttle that is very easy to use as a rudder(Yaw) control.

I think we're saying the same thing, I just want to point out the CH throttle/stick is nowhere near the cost of the Warthog setup.

Where'd you get those prices ?
Narnia?

The Pro Throttle and Fighterstick put me back 180$ each (sold separately you know)
And the pedals are another 180$.

Totally worth it, would buy again.

Well, I live in Norway, so add another 30$ in postage, and another 20% VAT (on item value + shipping) and you can see where I'm coming from :P
Then again that is fairly subjective, and I ordered them before the 20% discount :x

Yeah, but you'd have to add all that to the cost of the Warthog too. :(

We pulled into Tromso a couple times back when I was in the Navy in the early 90's. Beautiful place. I do remember paying something like $30 USD for a pizza though. Sucks not to be a local I guess. I still have some Kroner from the trip.

Have you opened it up to see if you can fix the issues with it? Sometimes a little clean fixes stuff, then again som,e stuff just wears away over time but you never know till you look ;)

On another note, what will you do with the old one? If it's for the bin maybe think of offering it out for tweakers to buy and make a couple creds back.

Yeah I had a look inside. As it is old it is running with potentiometers and I hoped that I could change it myself. But if I am honest, while it is possible and do-able I want more switches so I don't have to use a keyboard for anything other than having to chat with. With my current stick I can do most everything, but it would be great to not need the keyboard at all for flight use.
