I've finished upgrading mine and this is what I settled on - I use it for trading/RES/CZ - works well for all situations :)

Nice setup! I look forward to something like this, thou I find the jump range is really too small.

Who knows...perhaps a little buff in the future for the poor Python, already nerfhammered so hard? :D Just 8 LY more would be enough

Each ship has a base mass which is the main factor in determining how effective each shield type is. If the ship's base mass (doesn't include cargo or modules) is below the optimal then shield strength is increased by a modifier whereas if it is above optimal then the shield strength is decreased by a modifier.
A shield's capacity can be determined by the following equation

SHIELD STRENGTH = BASE SHIELD STRENGTH * MODIFIER

MODIFIER is based upon the difference between a ship's Hull Mass and a shield's Optimal Hull Mass.

Thus it can be concluded that shields have fixed stats which are modified when applied to different ships.
A table with all precalculated values can be found here https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Xq2fmxhjfNiwtR2fBR1MAZrwEcjFudSuSjTOLwfcqlM/pubhtml

Thx! I saw this and upgraded my PD asap. So we can assume that, DESPITE the modifier caused by a bigger hull mass, the "undersized" A class is equivalent to a bigger C class? (and much lighter)

Very useful, thanks! :D

Mine is currently set to this, just need the 7A Power plant to finish it off. Only slight hassle is deactivating one SCB then activating another but it does mean far fewer trips back to the station :D

I generally us the PA and bursts to wipe out any shields then switch between the PA and the Cannons to take out the enemy power plant. So far has done me very well indeed in the CG/CZ

I'm wondering how people using 3 learge beams on Python? My Python is fully maxed-out with A7 power plant and A7 Disctributor, but even two large beams drain power so fast.

After trying just about every combination of weapons, I've actually settled on two medium beams and three large cannons.

I use the beams to strip shields on all targets, and also use them to finish off anything up to Python/Clipper/Anaconda size. For the big three, I use the cannons once shields are down, usually 2 or 3 volleys is enough. The nice thing is, I can keep 3 pips to SYS while stripping shields from a medium range, and once they are down, put 4 pips to SYS and close in for some cannon carnage. That really helps with shield durability, and has let me almost eliminate my SCB usage.

Granted, I do have to disengage for ammo runs but, I typically can get a good million CR in before doing so.

Had multi's in the mediums, and three c3 beams.
You fire in bursts and keep an eye on heat, usually one burst is enough to wipe out most npc shields completely if not more.
Conda's or higher ranked pythons might need two, I would then use multi's while cooling/recharging just to keep the pressure up (and for fun).

You'll find a lot of loadout opinions here, too.

Like others, I have experimented a lot, and I'm currently using 5 pulse lasers. Max damage per second, and decent capacitor duration.

Interdictors usually aren't too terribly hard to find. Try searching in the Galaxy Map for high tech or industrial systems with large populations. They usually have the best outfitting. Good luck in your search.
