Wouldn't the update possibly add incorrect information? I know most crowd-sourced programs have such issues, especially the common ones.
EDDN data is used by Slopey's as well. You can use it with just your own data just like Slopey's as well. There is always going to be a chance for bad data. Even if you use your own data, no matter how you put the data in, either manually or EliteOCR, you run the chance of the data being wrong even if just slightly.
I feel the crowd sourced data is large enough that the benefit outweighs the problem of bad data. Also, there is the fact that Maddavo and others are policing the data. You need to understand that Maddavo != EDDN. And Maddavo's updates include Corrections. They police (for lack of a better term coming into my head at the moment) the data and get rid of bad stuff.
The benefit of the large dataset, coupled with the updates, and the New API data pulls that can be done with 99.999999% accuracy will make EDDN better in the long run. And the data is not just Commodities. There is Shipyard Data, System locations and Station information.
Again, like any other tool, you have to look at what it does for you, how you like to work, and decide if it's right for you. I made so many millions via Thrudds, Inara and others. I am always looking at what can help me do what I want to do in the game better and easier. Thrudds is excellent, but he does not tie into EDDN at this point. Inara is great and does so much more than Thrudds, but also lacks some information that I like to use, EDDB and ED Board also have different tools that I use as well. There is no one solution as far as I am concerned. I have to use multiples. I don't see that changing in the near future.
Trade Dangerous is just another Tool in the Toolbox to get me the most profit per run that I use. Maybe it can do the same for others, that is why I made the posts. I continue to add the data I collect to the other tools I use such as Thrudds and Inara.
