I was watching a stream with someone who had 2x class 4 pulse and 2x class 1 multicannons. Seemed quite effective. He'd previously done the cannons on the class 4 hard points but is expecting these to get hit with the nerf bat before long.

I stand by my words. Full gimball multicannon.
One has enough energy for shields and drive. And one can shoot and shoot and shoot and shoot.

only disadvantage is...one can run out of ammo

The only time one has to much fuel is, when one is on fire.

So the general consensus (until the cannon nerf is implemented) is to go with a number of gimballed multicannons. I will give that a go.

I agree with Raz0rking. You rarely have over-heating issues with your guns as long as you leave a pip or two to weapons. I'm currently packing two class 3 gimbal multi-cannons, one class 1 multi-cannon, and one class 2 missile rack. Also equipped are two point defense utilities to deal with incoming missiles. I personally would prefer using pulse lasers, but they keep glitching out on me in Beta. I'd like to use beam lasers, but they over heat in the cobra way too fast, and not as powerful as they should be.

I had two class 4 pulses and two class 1 gimballed mutils as I mentioned above. I'm not sure if things were working correctly, but damn, it took a bloody long time to wear an anaconda down, even with two npcs attacking along side. We ended up about 50km away from the conflict zone by the time he popped. I would have thought class 4 pulses would have more oomph.

I am going with one C4 and one C2 Cannon, one C3 Gimballed Multicannon and one C1 Gimballed multicannon mounted in a X configuration. Tried this with pulselasers too, but the C3 gimballed one doesn't eh.. gimbal properly it seems.

What's the advantage of using four different multicannons?
