That's why I plug my Rift S directly into an XHCI/3.0 port on my computer, and all others into the powered 3.0 hub.
I do the same for my Saitek X-56, plug them into the real EHCI/2.0 ports in my computer, and everything else into a powered 2.0 hub.

That's why it gets a dedicated port on the system, just like the X-56 units too.
Everything else is powered by hubs -- keyboards, mice, etc...

Agreed. It's the reason I don't buy Raspberry Pi units either, but real boards with +12V connectors.
