Yeah, apparently it happens when the grease is cold. When it gets warm, it becomes less sticky.

I've also found leaving it centred when not in use helps keep it free

Modes are not only useful to prevent mistakes! I use them to have a few more commands. For example when I'm navigating, one of the switches opens the galaxy map when pushed down and puts the insertion point into the search field when pushed up, while in combat, the same switch cycles through the target's subsystems. And I use the third mode for photo shootings, with the main trigger to make screenshots and the secondary one to make high res.

Clever! I wonder if I can stick that onto my current galaxymap switch with a timer in between so it waits for it to load.

Have to say my layout has already gone through some drastic changes.

Indeed. I've also tried to set up every mode so that controls important/crucial for the particular mode are readily available on the stick and throttle handle while the ones I need less are in TGL's and SW's while controls not needed aren't set up at all. Eg. landing gear isn't avalaible in Combat mode and Docking mode doesn't have guns nor power distribution and so forth.

Plus I like flicking switches and pushing buttons. Adds to the immersion :D

Scooping fuel is very much like making love to a beautiful woman. First check the target is hot enough,
then approach slowly. Once close enough, pull out your scoop and fill her up. After you're done just
gently pull away, turn around and leave.

I have a feeling all those modes are gonna be a pain in the ass once I can get my hands on a set of VR goggles though. ;)
Try closing your eyes and finding a specific toggle. Its frightening how long it takes to find, which could be a problem in battle.
But im just knitpicking now, without VR the more buttons the merrier. :p

I've had my x55 since I started playing ed in jan.
the only problem I've had was ghost keys and a powered usb hub cleared that up.

Hi Guys,

I ran into this setup from Aussiedroid. It's working very well for me for the last couple of months. Changed some buttons a bit how i prefer it, but It has got a good explenations to get the slider and niple working on the throttle and a really logical button layout.
