That is, on the x52/x52 Pro, you have 3 flappers, that can be pressure switched one way or the other, but go back to a neutral position. I like that. DO the x56 equivalent ones on the throttle chamber toggle on/off and lock, or just press on/off?

Judging by this picture, it looks like they'll work the way you want them to. I can confirm the X55 does too, so I don't imagine they'd change that now.

And there are actually seven (7), three (3) at the bottom, and four (4) on the right up to the corner.

I like those four (4) because I can reach them while on the throttle. I use one for different Frame Shift Drive modes, another for cycling through all targets (the ones on the lower right of the throttle I use for enemy, module targeting, etc...), etc...

The three (3) at the bottom I use for power management, up to add, down on any of them to equalize.

Yeah, I saw that it has the switches, but I was unsure as to whether or not they were on/off state switches, or toggle state switches. I'd prefer a mix of both really. When thinking about it, I woudl probably save me time from what I used to do with my now dead x52, which is take my hand fully off the throttle, and hit the 1-6 toggles for things like FTL, Landing Gear, etc

As long as they are unchanged on the X56 from the X55, they all work the same. The three (3) at the bottom have "side guards" whereas the four (4) on the right don't.

Every now and then I manage to hit one of the four (4) on the right if I'm jamming the throttle hard, usually the 4th one as I pull back. But I only use that 4th one to cycle targets (any target). So if I'm in combat, that's not an issue as I use a throttle thumb hat to re-target the nearest enemy.

I like my X-55, but the quality is awful. It's acquired an annoying random drift to the left on the yaw and I've had to have the stick apart a couple of time to stop it graunching, looking at the videos the quality doesn't seem improved, so I'll be sticking with the X-55 until it dies and then probably go with a Warthog and learn to use pedals.

Even the Warthog aint perfect.......

Remember these are (Or the warthog is) supposed to replicate plane controls.......

Plane controls do not get as much grief as they do in ED.....

My throttle now has spurious bits of debris falling off it into the base because of the way I use the throttle in ED......

In DCS or any flight sim the throttle is only used a very small amount and not as violently as in ED.......

My Saitek combat pedals are almost fucked now because of the different use in ED compared to a flight sim.......

This game needs dedicated controllers using robust high end parts, and no major manufacturer is gonna do that for the limited market that ED is......

Mind you having said that......Maybe nobody pilots the way I do.......

CH Products Pro Throttle and Fighterstick replaced my Hotas X - there's no twist on the stick but they do make compatible pedals. CH Products make hand controls for industrial applications.

Most people rate the kit they have because it's what they're used to; I rate this very highly and bought it after reading all the reviews making special reference to the build quality. No issues with USB3 and you only need to use the controller software if you really want to - it's just plug and play and all configurable from within ED.

I was debating going with the CH kit, since the X56 is delayed and the intial reviews are of buggy build quality. I alreayd have pedals, so that's a non issue. My one real qualm with the CH throttle is the apparent lack of a center area, which makes FAO flight a bit harder since you don't have a visible center. That may be a non-issue though.

I looked at both the warthog and the x56, and I dunno, just not impressed enough to buy either. QC issues on the x56, and price stupidity on the warthog.

I gave serious consideration to just buying an x52 pro and being done with it all.

@Walter

Never used any CH products.....So cannot comment.....

But going on what I have read they are reported as good quality.....

But then I spose it gets personal as in number of buttons and the layout.....

And you are never gonna please everyone on that one.....

But I spose you get used to what you are initially using......

Looking at a pair of crosswinds when my pedals finally fail......

Supposed to be the Dogz Bollox.....

But then again that's from the flight sim community......Can they take a beating like they would get in ED ??.....

Lots of money to find that one out......
