I got mine last week and have been playing with it for a bit. Here are my comments.

Mine works with Asmedia USB controller. But, only after I had updated to the latest Asmedia drivers.

Installation of vjoy for the infinite screen extension app was not that easy. For the first few times on installation it would hang at 50% when installing the vjoy component. A few reboots later the install was successful. Running Windows 10 btw.

Eye tracking does work in elite dangerous but it feels a lot different than head tracking. It works very well if you want to lock your gaze on a target but not as well if you want to scan something quickly. For example, I found it difficult to track a target, look at the radar, then find my target again.

You don't get a sense of orientation with eye tracking. If I am tracking an NPC, I don't get a sense of what direction my ship is facing and which direction I should move my stick. With head tracking, it is more intuitive as your head direction dictates which way you should pull the stick to bring the ship around.

I am 6'2", wear glasses and am using a 27" monitor. I had to add a small shim to the bottom of the mount to angle the tracker slightly higher.

I haven't made up my mind about eye tracking. It definitely works. I also got EDtracker a week before the eyeX so I've been busy experimenting with both.

I also set it so looking towards a screen doesn't open it.
I have buttons for that and this is a great little feature with 1.5 - 2.0 .

When I got the eyex I also disabled camera locking when I activate a panel.
That way I stay in free look and I honestly don't need to see the navigation panel to request dock.

Firstly I'd like to say Hi, this is my first post on this forum infact this is my first visit here.

I've been reading your posts with some interest and was quite impressed with your Vid it looks like you have the Eyex pretty much under control.

I recently bought and installed Eyex but despite playing around with the settings I still have the - Studying my crotch moments. It is a lot better as you would expect but I'm not totally convinced I'm in it for the longterm.

What settings are you using ? I'm at Sensitivity - 2
Gradient - 3.5
D.Zone - 0.99
I found this has greatly smoothed out the eye jerking.
One of the other annoying issues I have is looking over my right shoulder when I exit the Galmap.

Well, welcome to the forum Gobbo.

I suspect this as most control interfaces is largely personal preference, but what I'm using now as settings are
Speed 5.50
Gradient 2.75
Deadzone 0.8
Pretty close to defaults actually.

The settings I have now, and listed above where quite a way off from what I had when I recorded it though, can't remember what those where.

Disabling deadzone in the ingame settings for the headlook axis helped a lot on the jerking as well, put I probably set them myself as well :S

HAs anyone else had issues getting the screen extension to work? it wont load as it can't find the vjoy program.

I had a heck of a time installing the screen extension. Vjoy was the problem - the install kept hanging. After a few reboots of windows 10, the screen extension finally installed successfully. I did notice that vjoy had removed my x52 application from the windows toolbar.

Cheers Tor,
Dead zone settings are similar I could try playing around and maybe upping my speed again but I found that added to the jerking. My ingame settings I've left default or as I had altered for my Thrustmaster including deadzone off which I think Tobii recommended.

This is my first attempt at headlook so not really sure what to expect. I'm trying to work out if I think the Eyex would be more suitable vs TrackIR. The biggest issue for me is the glancing thing moves the whole FOV thereby disrupting line of sight to the target.
There is a months grace to return the Eyex if not happy with the product so will make full use.

BTW the issue I had installing screen extension was Windows 10 Antivirus detecting as virus and not allowing installation - strangely.

vJoy also causes a few other issues in Windows 10 - for example, it disables screen savers. I didn't have any issues with installing it, but do wish that Tobii hadn't use it as a key part of their package. Without it, InfiniteScreen doesn't work. They are aware of the issue and looking for solutions... but note that it's third party software so didn't hold out much hope.

A simple workaround has been a shortcut to "Configure vJoy" on the desktop, used to enable/disable vJoy. When playing the game, I enable and keep the InfiniteScreen app running. Just another app running in the background... but not the worlds smoothest system. Ah, well. Maybe I'll get one of those knee boards pilots use and generate a Pre-Flight Checklist!

Don't now whether you guys have been following the rather long thread on the ED forums - quite interesting, the Tobii Dev Team are pretty active on there posting answers to a few of the queries.

I shan't post the Link.. not sure what this forum policy is but a quick search will find it.

Hi Commanders,

We have an update for the Infinite Screen Extension to v1.1. You can download it here: https://files.update.tech.tobii.com/.../download.html

Here is a list of feature updates, bugfixes and known issues for this release:

Features:

- VJoy configuration is no longer reset on start-up so ISE should now play nicely with any existing software that uses VJoy.
- Elite: Dangerous is now supported through FreeTrack protocol instead of VJoy (please review your sensitivity settings).
- DCS is now supported through FreeTrack protocol instead of VJoy (all aircraft/vehicles should now be supported).
- The browse to game executable button is now always available.
- Added a button that will attempt to auto detect the "Game executable path".
- The enable/disable hotkey will now always centre the view in Arma2, Arma3, DayZ and Ironfront: Liberation 1944.
- Added a "Save settings"-button. Settings are now only saved when this button is clicked.
- ISE now uses the latest version of FreeTrackClient.dll.

Bugfixes:

- You no longer need to run ISE as administrator.
- Improved the process monitor (no more "Error: Invalid URI: The URI is empty").
- Binding hotkeys to joysticks should now work properly.
- ISE now works when playing Arma2 and Arma2A with custom profiles.
- ISE no longer launches after installation.
- Improved error handling and logging.

Known Issues:

- VJoy will, like any joystick, prevent Windows 10 from entering sleep mode.
- VJoy has compatibility issues with some other HID drivers.
- Some overclocking utilities might prevent ISE from running properly.
- Compatibility issues with the Xbox One controller on some system configurations.

More information: https://files.update.tech.tobii.com/...easenotes.html

Try it out and let us know!

John / Tobii
