No you don't need to go there at all. I ranked up whilst continually getting the go to "Facece" mission. Just keep doing missions for Imperial groups and you will eventually get the ranking mission. I'm now an Earl but to be honest it makes no difference to the gameplay at all. I am the highest rank I can get to and I don't get so much as a badge or extra missions. Poor stuff really.

That's why I gave up with ranking missions at LT Commander...One away from the top.....
