Ship killing itself?

Haven't played for a while and had a wee skoot about in the starting Sidey and had a bit of a tumble with a Cobra Mk3 NPC.

I was using full pips to weapons, but I was taking damage without the NPC shooting me, and it seemed like some kind of power overload as the weapon energy ran low?

Is this a new feature I've missed? Its the stock Sidey, with no upgrades etc. I finished the fight without taking a single shot against me, with no shields and 25% hull!

Did you notice your heat? displays top left of the radar(?) in a percentage..
