I am not sure because it is a month ago, but I think it was my Clipper (so yes, big).
Does size matter? :)

*Stops himself from saying - "Ask the wife.."* ;) ;)

(I might be utterly incorrect with this statement...But) Sometimes if you have lower rated power plants, they are less efficient and can, I believe, got hot quicker than the better rated version and also dissipate heat slower... ?? :?

It's a theory, yes.
But
a. I have an A-rated Clipper :)
b. I never had heat problems in space with just maneuvering (not talking about fuel scooping or firing my beam laser ;) )

Interesting - I have an A-rated Cobra MkIV. Last night, for no reason I can explain, it nearly got fried... Wasn't scooping, but was moving away from a sun getting ready to hit the jump button. Dropped me out of S/cruise..?
I might have missed something, but it felt odd at the time. I put it down to me not paying attention to temps..

Overheating in general: I had that yesterday, I think. Yes it was a close hyj spool-up to the sun, yet the temperature of my Rattaconda very nearly sent me glowing. The cockpit was creaking as never heard before. I only have a D rated PP, yet that was a bit harsh. And it was a standard class sun, no white dwarf or something ...
Still padding the Rattaconda to calm it down.

I land the cutter using the white dot as you just cant see nothing below in that beast. Everything else I go in nose first. I havent landed the cutter on a planet yet as its too expensive and its equipped for trading only and parked in my reserved slot down the market. Im in my Asp smuggling at the minute, miles from home. Robigo.
