Will multiple ships make the insurance system pointless?

Postby RogueZephyr » Sat Oct 11, 2014 12:16 pm

I think it will.
-I fly the ocean black, and my little ship goes warp 10-
-Theres nothing that we lack (unless theres something we've forgotten)-

But will you have to pay to keep the ship in a hangar and also insurance for theft and the security costs? That's if I'm not missing the point of your post.

I don't think so. The insurance system lets you buy back a ship you just lost at a greatly reduced price (10% :?: )
So if you own 5 ships, for example, and get blown out of the sky (space) you would still want to be able to buy back that ship for 10% rather than to just lose it.

If I have 5 different ships that is full kited I would not just let some of them go and take a standard sidewinder.
Or maybe we wont get the option to get a new sidewinder as that ship is not worth anything anyway.
Instead we get the option to either buy back our old ship or be transported to an other ship we own until we just have 1 ship left and then get the standard sidewinder.

Insurance system will be important no matter how many ship you own :)

I think it will work just the same as it does now. I'd hate to lose a fully tooled up ship, just because I have another in a hangar in another system. It'll be interesting to see what the rental costs will be because it doesn't mention that in the newsletter. Not that I can afford to jazz up the ship I have currently, let alone buy a new one. :) Transfer between ships is also something I'm curious about because DB has mentioned before about having them located far apart for different jobs.

If you are trading in an anaconda and then switch to a cobra then the insurance on the cobra is rather insignificant as you can earn it again very quickly with trading using the Anaconda.

To be honest though the whole insurance thing, I am glad if it becomes less of an issue, although it is not too much of an issue now anyway as there are now loans.
