Cops Shooting Each Other

I saw a strange sight in a RES last night. I saw a bunch of laser shots off in the distance and went to investigate. When I got there, there were only system authority vessels present. There were 5-6 eagles and an anaconda, all from the same faction, and they were fighting each other! It looked like they were ganging up against one of the eagles. They were lousy shots too, barely hitting each other. I thought there might be an invisible enemy. Anyway, I stuck around until the eagle was destroyed and then they started ganging up on another. I thought WTF and went off to do some bounty hunting.

About an hour later, on my way out, I ran across these guys again. They were down to the anaconda and two eagles left, still shooting each other.

I'm wondering if maybe they got infected with some kind of Thargoid mind sickness.

So it is a bug - just not an alien virus.
