Mining Tips and Tricks Advice?

Keeps telling me prospector failed when I do that. Sitting right in front of a brand new asteroid too so I know it's got the goods. Zapped it just to make sure and it pooped ore.

Got it working now after I waited a bit, not sure what the problem was. Due to being new at mining it was mostly likely due to human derp.

Ok, definately the derp. Figured out it was saying failed because it kept blowing up my old one.... sigh... newb mistake.

What I do when I mine is:

- As was stated choose one that is not spinning too violently. I notice the ones that are almost perfectly round don't spin at all.
- Idle up to it and fire off your prospector. The moment it clears the belly of your ship, target it so you get an idea how far off the target is.
- Chase your prospector and then just stop when you get within mine laser range 500 meters.
- If the roid is moving, tap and hold your Z key to reverse a bit and stay away from it
- Open you cargo bay and fire off your limpets after you've started your lasers

Gonna sound weird but I mine most of the time from under the roid so it rotated over my head and I just tilt up to fire off the mine lasers. That way all the fragments fall towards the ship, the roid never hits me and its depleted long before it goes out of range.

Try to mine in Pristine Reserve belts only and stay away from anything that says "rocky"
