i'm not seeing a Detailed Surface Scanner in there anywhere - if you're going exploring, you need one

in my opinion - not trying to dissuade you from your chosen course - bounty hunting and exploration are very much at cross purposes. exploration wants a light fast ship with maximum jump range, whereas bounty hunting wants a tough rugged fighter with maximum punch at the expense of jump range. it is of course possible to do both, but it wouldn't really excel at either*

* i carry a discovery scanner in one of my Vultures. but i'd never call it an exploration ship, or take it out too far from civilisation


----> edit - in your situation, i'd buy a Hauler and use that for exploration and keep the Cobra just for bounty hunting with light cargo capability for doing missions. the Hauler is cheap and upgrades are plentiful and most of all, it has a 30Ly jump range. it is the perfect budget exploration ship.

I already had a hauler that I was not using much, so I maxed it out for exploration I think and kept my cobra as it is mostly.
