It's going to be a more real, breathing universe now.

From post above :

"2.1 is bringing something more,

USS now being spatially based.
small difference in the game, but they will be context based, that's a big difference.

mission-based-USS now needing to be scanned for via Nav-point scanning or using a discovery scanner.
This alters some of the fabric of how the game fundamentally works.

Creating trading corridors in space - again potentially another game-changer.

Missions reflecting the state of the mission givers, political alignment, and success, and what state the stations themselves are in (civil war etc ).
This is another huge game changer.

okay, you probably won't notice it, but it's more of the fact, your psyche will not be picking up on that fact the station you just plunged into civil war are happy to trade with you with zero consequences.
i.e. there will be less "wrong" things happening that your brain to freak out over.
(Ooh I hope the commodity market prices are affected a bit as well!!)

These are all fairly large game changing concepts to the standard way in which we fly.

It was in the dev logs.

No doubt this has been long in the planning, moving from something that works, to something that makes more sense. I expect glitches, revisions, plugged loopholes nd exveything else, but I am still looking forwards to seeing the game evolve in this way.

hum...I have issue seeing FD deploying something coherent. it will certainly fill up some things while creating new loopholes somewhere else unfortunately.

Are seriously saying the current mission system and bgs works?
I would like to play the same game you play...

I still think we are at least two seasons away from seeing the completed game/vision.
So I choose to have faith in Braben a little while longer.

Awe I can't find it but for a while I had a link to a post by kickstarter backers. They were tracking features added to the game that were promised in the kickstarter. It was kind of a running joke because E:D was originally getting around the legality of not fulfilling its promises by saying the game was still in development. In some ways they are still doing so, but at least with every coming update the game show more and more promise.
