No comments on core internals they are pretty efficiently engineered, I would swap this chaff launcher for something else though, it is not particularly useful both pve or pvp, many npc use fixed weapons and your're still quite big target, better maybe to use it for point defence for example. For PD you have 2 options - either used to defend against missiles that can have some pesky experimentals on them (like drag or fsd interrupt) or to defend against cargo hatch limpets that pirate ships like to use. For first option most effective placement would be on top of the ship, for latter on the bottom where they are closer to the cargo hatch.
For hardpoints I would still prefer multicannons instead of missiles. I usually have 2 large beams with thermal vent on upper mounts and others are overcharged multicannons. Two with autoloader experimental and one with corrosive.
Here is the build I use for gneral mission running though I sacrifice cargo for more protection, I can go toe to toe with Anaconda no problem, they don't even go past my shields.
https://s.orbis.zone/27i8For more specialized tasks like Conflict Zone fights I use this loadout:
https://s.orbis.zone/27ibFor passenger runs you can try Robigo mines to Sirius Atmosperics ( I think that this the name?) They are very close 1-2 jups away, go to beacon, scan it and go back, like few minutes work, I was gathering Exquisite Crystals that way.
Those are really-really good tips right there. I suspected Chaff isn't very useful, but since I don't use PD on any of my ships, I didn't know how many and where I should have, or if that'd be effective. Since I want Python also for Guardian tech grind, PDs might really come in handy. Big thanks for clearing up on best placement positions, that's major.
As for weapon loadouts, I have 3 OC MCs (2 Incendiary, 1 Corrosive) + 2 Cascade Rails on my combat Krait MKII, at it is absolute killing machine. Originally I set it with those beams and missiles, because I like the looks and feel of these weapons, but since they are real poop in terms of combat effectiveness, I gave them to Python, which should be more than enough to fight against ordinary pirates. Don't plan to do CZs in it, as Krait is perfect for the job. So it's more like aesthetics other than anything else, still, should be enough I think.
Also appreciate tips on passenger run locations, if there are more spots, would be glad to know. And still curious what class, type, size and number of cabins would be best to have for these missions.

Johnluke had mentioned mining being nicely profitable and actually enjoyable now. Thought I might give it a shot but have no clue... Help a brother out?

I personally been playing on my alt account lately and spent a week ice mining, no more than an hour or so a day.
But each trip was 120+ mil.
So in less than seven days I had a billion credits and elite in trade.

Can't say mining is super enjoyable, but it has its charm. I use Type 9 for mining, it's working brilliantly well. TorTorden gave good tips on what you need already, if you follow it, you'll get hang of it in time. I made 2.5 billion credits in 3-4 sessions of mining in my T9, that was when Blaster bug was around giving me more chunks per shot, but it's still stupidly profitable. 2-3 good mining runs with decent cargo capacity will set you up with credits for life.
