Wait for the object to settle, unless this is inside the sphere of gravity of a planet it will stop quite quickly, Newton must be spinning in his grave.
If it is drifting And ypubare in a hurry, either do some fa-off trickery to line up or get directly behind.
Use the targeting ui to the left of the sensor diisplay.
Aim the cross square at the whatever and don't exceed 30ms.
That's it. Just keep it in the box and don't go to fast.
Doing that you'll scoop anything every time in anything from a sidey to a cutter.
It's not like I don't know how to scoop, because I'm doing it on regular basis you might say, never missed single HGE if I saw one, haha. But as a reference, in my beloved Viper IV I can scoop stuff on speed, and it doesn't even care if I aim right, it just gets sucked into my cargo like some vacuum cleaner. Same deal with Krait. But it's virtually impossible to scoop stuff in Type 9 f.e., and it's much easier but still similarly hard with Python. Feels like ship size and geometry has a BIG difference here, like, Viper is rather small, so scoop must be placed not far below the cockpit, while Krait has cockpit rather deep, closer to the center, and feels like scoop is just beneath me. In Type 9, if I deviate just an inch from object being straight up on crosshair, I either miss it, or it somehow bumps from my bottom and flies away, argh, so annoying. Seem like scoop is somewhere near ship's butt and shoved in diagonally, because I swear, it easier to scoop stuff coming at it vertically. On Python scoop seems to be positioned waaay back far from cockpit as well. In fact it's quite interesting design choice that some ships benefit from Limpets more than the others. Hope I'll learn some tricks to scoop fast in Python, cause I've no intention to shove any Controllers in.

All the new medium ships that have been added seem to be more combat focused. If you have the rank or the will to get the rank, the Imperial Clipped might work for you. Different module config but that size 7 slot could be a nice cargo bay and it has a pretty stylish interior. *edit* Looking at it a little harder, the Clipper is less similar than I saw at first. *edit*
*edit* The Python is pretty much the biggest multi-role below the Anaconda, so any other current options would be a sacrifice. *edit*
For defense, HRP, MPR, or Guardian stuff if you can swing it; I haven't touched any of the Guardian stuff yet as there is no "casual" way to pick it up but the Guardian Shield Reinforcement looks pretty nice and you'd have the power to operate it. If you're not struggling with your encounters, then nice flying there, o7.
*edit* When it started becoming less rare that I dropped in on a Dangerous Anaconda / Corvette with a small horde of lesser hostiles or another Anaconda/Corvette dropped in with me (all unhappy with me), I tilted even more towards defense.
CZ's have much tougher enemies now and if Spec OP ships gang up, I feel the pressure. *edit*
Limpets can be quite stupid but I notice that they've been made a little smarter in the long run with updates. There is certainly no way I can pick up four pieces of space debris as fast as two limpets can and they are faster when you target an object to pick up instead of just letting them roam.
I suspect that the bumps on the bottom of the ship, the scoop itself being so far back, and my twitchy controls/hands is what causes me trouble with manual scooping. I have gotten better with practice and you likely will as well.
Life support doesn't affect canopy strength but it does determine how much oxygen you have if the canopy blows. If that's your sign to run, I totally respect that choice. It's been quite a while since that actually happened to me, but A rated life support degrades my jump and maneuverability like a rounding error, so I keep it.
As far as I've been able to tell, MRPs do stack but with diminishing returns; I don't quit when shields go down but I do get nervous. You still get the total integrity of all MRPs but the percentages have diminishing returns. <span class="skimlinks-unlinked">Coriolis.io</span> has the figures at one giving 60%, two gives 84%, three gives 94%; I've seen a number of posts in the E:D forums that appear to back that up (no sources available ATM).
Nice to get your insight on the other points as well.
Hopefully it's interior can grow on me too. Can't say it's ugly or anything, I love DeLacy design overall, just... not what I expected I guess.
Good point about Gutamaya ships, they really have great Multipurposes as well, but as I mentioned before, really not seeing myself in one of those. Too fancy for me, heh.
Didn't know about MRPs stacking has so good diminishing returns, appreciate the heads up, gotta read more on it.
