I felt quite chuffed when I hit the 5k distance...but is it really any kind of achievement? How far out have you guys been?

Only 500LY or so for me.
When you come to unlock Professor Palin, you need to have done 5000LY from your start location, so there is that.

Also been to the core.

5K ly is a good achievement though, and judging by the complaints about having to do it to unlock Palin, it's clearly something lots of people haven't managed.

24,000 but still short of Sag A because I went to Jaques first then towards Sag A when SPace Madness set in, so I headed back and blew up at Jaques to get a Free Sidewinder back to the bubble.

The maximum distance from Sol you can achieve in-game without using jumponium or engineering is 65373.72 ly from Sol. With engineering and jumponium, the current record is 65647.34 ly from Sol. I made it to just 65511 ly from Sol since I do not fly an Anaconda with a god-like FSD roll, only a cutter with a jump range of 35 LY.

My record is the typical Sag A visit. Not ready to repeat any such trip...
