I know there are probably almost infinite numbers of threads from people on both sides of this opinin already, but just for the record...
I love 2.2, I love the fighters and building up the rank of my pilot. I like that it gives me something measurable to work on, which I think Elite could do with more of.
This will be controversial, but I'm happy Sothis/Ceos were nerfed. This is a selfish one, because I'm only happy with it because I had enough money to last me a while and already had my endgame ship (Corvette) before the nerf. To clarfy, I've had the game since mid 2015 and have Dangerous combat rank, so I'm not one of those 'mostly harmless got a Conda/Vette in a week' people.
But without the worry of "they might nerf it next week, therefore I must do nothing but haul poo just incase" I can now do other things. I've been ranking up engineers for the last week or two between CGs, which while another grind in itself is much more varied than what I was doing before and it's giving me great satisfaction upgrading my Corvette with awesome colourful weapons.
I'm having to go and explore planetary bases to scan data points, go surface prospecting to gather materials and in the process discovered I love the SRV. Often I go down to a planet to just to get a couple of units of something, then before I know it I've been driving around for an hour because I decided to go climb 'that mountain in the distance'.
I'm exploring places I wouldn't normally go, doing different things and feel like I'm playing Elite how it's 'supposed' to be played, if there is such a thing.
I might even have a go at passenger missions once the bugs are ironed out!
Anyway in summary... good job FD, keep it up!
Here are some generic 'I'm enjoying Elite' screenshots from the last couple of weeks. [up]
