Then I went to the galaxy map, picked a far away star at random and set off to explore.
My goal is to find some star or planet that no one has discovered before. Any idea how far I would have to go for that ?
Well, the other goal, of course, is to get filthy rich from all the discovery data I will sell when I return
Depends what direction, if you go towards core or colonia, you might stumble on something at around 10k, but it's pretty well traveled that way now.
If you go pretty much anywhere else you will hit great swathes of undiscovered systems already inside <900ly of the bubble.
Simply avoid the touristy bits, like neutrons, black holes etc and major nebulas.
Although it might be well discovered I personally think the California nebula is well worth a visit and is barely 1kly away from the center of the bubble, so a dbx with ok range could do the trip and back in less than 45 minutes.
