I was told you have to go about 3K LY away from civilized space to find some unexplored areas, but I've found the same thing you have. I went about 500-800 LY in an unusual direction, and started to find a bunch of systems which now have my name attached. :D

I basically avoiding heading toward the core or toward any nebulae, and also moved out-of-plane a little bit. I still occasionally run across explored systems, so I am assuming that someone went through with "fast routes" selected and skipped a bunch.

PS love the name - rock on. I'll be seeing the band on June 27 in NJ.
