Good luck.
Those bastards have been eluding me for the past six months.

Tor, 38 second rule.

Lori, say Lori, hello Lori!

Dawg is stuck to his chair! (don't ask)

Oh I'm here, but the heat is proving that a polar bear from Canada has no mobility when the temp climbs above 30C.

Did Dawg go all Camaro on his Corvette too? By Camaro, I mean is his shirt unbuttoned to his crotch, fake chest hair and gold chains with a Mullet and a set of "Top Gun" aviators? He did with his Anaconda. Mullet Head....

A Camaro is a chick's car.

No, literally, our '16 Camaro SS (LT1 Corvette engine) is my wife's.

Now I myself love Ferrari F400-series, Porche 911 and definitely the Aston Martin blocks ... but being an American, and not having to pay the massive, protectionist EU VAT, etc... mark-up, the US$50-65K Corvette Z51 or GS is just too much sports car, and very fuel efficient, for so little buck to not love most.

NOTE: Keep in mind that gal-Imp are 25% larger than gal-US.**

E.g., 40mpg-Imp = 32mpg-US

**The US dropped the UK Imperial system in the 19th century, despite popular assumption. At that time there was the new base 10 ISO, based on the French system, and the US sided with that, standardizing US Customary on Metric equivalence. This was and still is done to same number of significant digits as metric itself -- 5, then 7, then 9 digits in mid-19, late-19 and early-20th centuries, respectively. This is why US manufacturing equipment didn't have the same issue as the UK, pre-metric conversion, in the 20th century -- especially when it came to NATO interoperability.

Rylo Ken wrote:So... Something I'd been pondering for a while (I own the big three ships and that combat play gets really boring for me a lot of the time). So I broke out the A-rated Vulture during this CG... OH MY WORD!! This game has just given me the most enjoyment I've had in it since I started (November 2016). Different strokes, of course and YMMV -- all that jazz. Apparently, I'm a small craft fighter kinda guy.

At any rate, while the Vulture is A-rated I knew there was more performance in there somewhere. I decided to take a little break from the bounty hunting at the current CG out yonder towards Maia and put in some engineer time for the Vulture.

Here's what I got done today:
1. G4 overcharged powerplant (I did all the other mods first and then went with the minimal roll that got me the power I needed)
2. G3 Dirty Drives (don't have access to Palin yet and I've read the G3's are kinda the sweet spot on the Vulture)
3. G4 Increased Range FSD (got me to right at 19ly so thats better than my Corvette)
4. G3 Weapons Focused Power Dist. (I actually rolled a G4 weapons focused PD too... I liked the G3 WF better... If I ever find some exquisite focus crystals, I'll likely re-roll this one)
5. G1 Lightweight 4A Sensors
6. 2x G5 Rapid Fire Pulses
7. G5 Therm Resistant Bi-Weaves
8. A few G3 Shield Boosters (I have the recipes crafted for G5's but don't have access to Vaterman yet)

WHEW!! So, that's about it!

BTW - I named the ship 'Doc Holliday'. You know -- "I have two guns. One for each of ya!"

Any Vulture fans 'round here? Or is it big ships or gtfo?

RK

The Vulture is my favorite small ship. I just engineered up a Vulture, and plan on transferring one out to Colonia when I return there in a few months.

Before I had any money (and didn't know about CGs, playing largely in Solo), I used to even mine in a Vulture. Only 6 bins, 1 collector limpet out and the Mining Laser meant I only had 1 hard point for weapons ... it was just too much fun to mine in a RES.

So I am entirely convinced, after 6 solid hours of running missions in a boom system of which I'm allied with everyone there, that there are no exquisite focus crystals in this game. Nada. Zip. Zilch. Nein. Nessuna. Ninguna. They're all gone. The entire universe. Just gone.

(In my opinion, it's a broken game mechanic when you're maxed out on all the 'requirements' for a specific item and can't get even ONE after hammering it for six solid, freaking hours)

I now remember why I quit playing from December to July.

Meanwhile, at Obsidian Orbital, where I was handing in some Empire and Alliance bounties from the CG:

► Show Spoiler

Since exquisite focus crystals were bugged and actually unavailable for several months, one the things I do after each patch is keeping an eye on the mission boards and passenger lounges to see if missions offering exquisite focus crystals, modular terminals, biotech conductors, cracked industrial firmware, and (new as of 2.3.11) modified embedded firmware exist. After 2.3.11 was released, it took me less than two hours to spot missions for all of them, with CIF being the last.

My technique on that evening was to fly regular and passenger missions out of Tygerlily-Merlyn Pleasuredome for the Order of Mobius, but only inf+++ ones since I was doing it for the BGS effect. While I did not get all that many EFC for these missions, they sent me scurrying all over the area, and checking the mission boards and passenger lounges in the destination systems yielded fruit.

The important part is not the system state, but the faction state. Maia is a high tech system which is currently in state "none", but the faction offering the above mission is in state "boom".

HGSS in outbreak systems. I can't remember but it might need to an independent system. Stay between 1,000 - 2,000 ls from the main star.

I unlocked Bill Turner. Only took two hours. I used cartography data to get friendly with Alioth Independents. I cashed in 7.5 mil and that took me from neutral to allied in one mouse click. It was also enough to provide the mission for the permit to Alioth. Spend most of the two hours mining for Bromellite. The first location didn't pan out. The second location did, though. Had to make about five or so trips for additional limpets.

I had enough mays to quickly get up to level five with Bill. Now, to ferry each of my ships here for some upgrades

I was working on ol' Bill last night. Was just about to drop the first load off (ran out of limpets, didnt want to jump back into ring as there is always a pirate) THEN realised about the permit requirements. Was not a happy bunny . Picked up the conda before logging off and a couple of runs should see me allied

I saw multiples of every one of these during my 6 hour attempt with the exception of the EFC.

Congrats on getting the last EFC's in the entire game!
