A faction-specific decal or, as pained content if they like (for a reasonable price of course) a specific paintjob would indeed give the decals/paintjobs an even deeper meaning. No idea how much work that would mean though.

I'm excited about this and I'd be happy for the group name to be Mobius or at least something with Mobius in it. After all its a cool name and that it happens to be a CMDR name is neither here not there for me.

Any idea how this will work in terms of powerplay? Will we become a faction in space with our own systems and what not?

Sorry I'm late to the reply-party...

Maybe we're overthinking this. I doubt player factions will ever become as powerful as the actual powerplay factions. However - making player factions something like guilds in regular MMOs with the option to own a station and fight for it (like in EVE) would be awesome!

So perhaps - stations could get a "trigger" like community goals where people of the same faction (guild/power/whatchamacallits) come in and pay with credits/assets/bounty/whatever to actually claim it. Then other can undermine it to reclaim it or just take it from someone else. It opens so much gameplay mechanics! :)

Just registered (was about time :D ) as long time member.

I’m not a fan of Power Play, like to blaze my own trail.
Some players like this PP game and, but, ..., it would be nice how ‘our’ minor can exist/ grow in the galaxy, so yes I would support this.

I even would travel from the far edges of the Galaxy to support ‘our’ Faction for some days or weeks once awhile or in case of emergency.
Also curious how ‘our’ faction in Open would develop, seems like a nice experiment though

The PVE Collective


I would not use Mobius as faction name. Think it gives too much pressure to ‘our’ Faction and weight on Mobius his shoulders  :) :idea:

Given how large our group has become, and therefore how large a slice of the playerbase we represent, I feel it would be illogical NOT to have some form of Mobius PvE Player Faction!

As to the name, I'll say this : given that as players, we're as diverse as a very diverse thing, yet are all still bound together by the same underlying principles, I'd suggest...

Mobius Synergy

...because our group is indeed greater than the sum of its parts :)

If having a single system/station/minor faction for ALL players is hard, what about having multiple branches? Multiple Mobius minor factions, each in the same controlled space as the faction it's aligned with. Players could "align" with any one of these Mobius minor factions while staying in good terms with (and focused on) the power they are already pledged to. No need for the stress of traveling far away or into hostile space.

(in the example below, substitute [Mobius #X] with whatever name you want - it's just a placeholder to illustrate the point)

[Mobius #1]: Aligned with the Federation. Located in Federal space.
[Mobius #2]: Aligned with the Empire. Located in Empire space.
[Mobius #3]: Aligned with Pirates. Located in pirate space.
[Mobius #4]: Aligned with ...you get it...on and on...

The fun part: No need to compromise your preferred style of play. There's a home for everyone. But what excites me would be the possible clashes and other competition among the other Mobius groups. First Mobius group to reach true minor faction status? Go! Mobius group with highest influence/population/money/tech/pledged players? Sweet! Community goals with two Mobius groups trying to best each other? Too cool. Now you have the feeling of community within perpetual conflict. Hopefully that's entertaining enough.

And one more fun possibility: Non-faction aligned (independent, "I forge my own path", merc-like) players that are able to move between all Mobius locations and help out where really needed.

I'll feel dumb if someone already pitched this. I scanned as best as I could and this thread was sort of long to read at work. I hope I didn't just embarrass myself. I'll just walk myself out now...

interesting idea, players would need to create there own groups and register their faction, but with x amount of Mobius factions it would bring a lot of unwanted attention to our group with players crying foul. not saying that if the group wanted to create minor faction under the groups name in the future but lets keep it low key to begin with.
but something that could happen in the future.

Just trying to get my head round how this will work in practice (and being moderately cautious as this thread seems to be in general discussion and not in the private area).
How would the Mobius Power defend itself against concerted incursion from one of the Big Powers?
Would Mobius players who are pledged and committed to their cause have to abstain?
And would the Mobius Power sphere of influence grow, and if so, how? There's a lot I don't know about the way PP works, but my understanding is that players are rewarded for taking part. What will Mobius have to offer, apart from the satisfaction of Taking Part?
