There is no need to go into any RES site to mine. You will draw far less attention and have the same rocks by dropping into the inner rings away from RES sites. Miners usually draw some NPC's initially, but once they leave it's a pretty peaceful time to blow up rocks and gather the goodies you're after.

Spent some time in a Haz Res with the A-Team last night. It started to "get a little Hairy" :P out there.

At one point I was very low on shields. Instead of being smart and breaking off, I found a wing of Three. Elite Anaconda and 2 Dangerous Assault ships. I scanned them and said I wanted the Conda. Dawg and Kharma took up position on the Assault Ships. And we opened up on them. It did not take long before my shields were down and I was losing hull fast. But the conda was losing hull faster. I started to get worried when I saw I was at 20% and dropping but I kept in the fight. Dawg and Kharma had their hands full as well, but I was in Serious Trouble.

The Anaconda popped before I did and I did a Code 39 GTFO. I entered Super Cruise with less than 5% hull and headed back to the station. I Dropped out, requested landing and decided to fly it in myself. BAD IDEA. I scrapped it in the slot. But I managed to put it down.

Here is what I landed with:

I would have hung in sc for a bit as it looks as if the shields were close to coming back up, much safer docking with shields.
