I've personally have been stuck at the rank Petty Officer in the Feds. Trying different missions, killing pirates, trading, not going anywhere. The only thing that comes up with me is my Invitation to a star system I already accepted, so went there and did all I could at each port and still nothing. Not sure what to do other then forget about it and wait for them to fix it(if its broken).

Of course the progression missions also have a degree of RNG, so they don't always pop up straight away.

going from Lord to Baron took me relatively few missions and little time; but since then by my own rough calculations i've done over 130 missions for Empire factions in many different systems, and no rank up yet.

the RNG can go fuck itself, i hate the bloody thing. i wish there was a way of re-rolling it.

Finally managed to afford my first 'A Grade' module for the Python. that's 8M+ credits gone in the click of a button, poor again

On the plus side I swapped out the class 2 pulses for multi-cannons, I'd forgotten just how much I love multi's, the sound of them firing and hitting gives a real sense of shooting at something

Just farming and testing stuff out on conflict zones. Also trying to get a little used to combat before planning on for RES farming in the future.

hah! i finally beat the random number generator and got my promotion missions.

for the paltry price of 1 chaff packet, General Lee is now dead, and i hold the rank of Count in the Impure Navy.

Well I upgraded my Cobra with A class FSD, power etc and spent a week doing rare commodity runs between Lave and Fujin. After getting around 2mil a night I have now bought my Asp. So now doing the rare run again with a view to upgrading it and then going exploring.

Once I am done exploring I might invest in a vulture and start doing federation and empire missions.

I still think ED can keep my interest for a few months yet!

I'm still in emotional pain. Was having great fun at the RES in Facece last night. I had over a million in bounties waiting to collect and was raining righteous flaming hell on all wanted ships that passed in front of my scanners. I then face-planted my Clipper into an asteroid.

Over a million in bounties gone, 1.7 million in rebuy costs. Back to the drawing (bulletin) board.
It will be a few more days before that Python is in reach.

I feel your pain, I cringe in memory of my squished vultures when I see a big rock looming up - 3 so far - sure there will be more

Just spent an hour in my local RES - cashed in 2m of bounties - now back in my clipper doing some trading for a while - need to keep adding to the python fund - currently at 30mil cash so a few more days to go.

Still not decided if I should just stick to 1 ship - eg Python - and use that for Trading/RES hunting. Having to go collect my ships and move them to a new system when I move is a pain.

I like the Vulture, in a RES. I've hit a couple of rocks while dogfighting, and the shields took it all (I didn't boost into them, though)!
