I heard rumors about s&r ships will refuel you

Well, I can confirm that they can refuel you. I just don't know what the triggers are. So far, it's only worked in a high security system where I'm allied with the local faction. The rescue ship appears near a planet with a RES when your main fuel tank is drained and you are in SC or when you enter SC. You will get 1-2 messages, and if you select his wake from the contacts panel you can fly over, exit SC, and he will give you a bit of fuel.

I've also tried other systems where I may or may not have been allied (I don't think I was), both high security and medium security, with and w/o planets with RES sites, and I never got another rescue ship to appear. So I'm thinking being allied may be the key, but it will take some more testing. I didn't see any threads at the main forums about this. It may also require the nearest station/outpost to be a certain distance away. When I got refueled, the nearest station was quite far away. All the other places had stations within 200 ls.

I should add that I had previously seen S&R ships in a USS or two in the system where I was refueled - they were exploring wreckage.

USS with S&R ships in them are quite frequent in uninhabited systems in/near the bubble, and scanning the ships and their wakes (if you have a frame shift wake scanner) will sometimes yield data for the RNGineers.

When I went to refuel it said I had 1% in the reservoir. Phew! That's the closest I've ever cut it.
Still, made 2.5 million for 45 minutes work.

I remember a member posting some time back, that he was able to use synthesis to make fuel while in SC (normally used for the SRV, but apparently worked for his ship as well). IIRC it was confirmed by another player as well.

And yes.....He was showing as wanted.....

This is why I always wait for them to fire on me, even if they are Wanted. Although even then, when 2.0 first came out, that didn't always work.

BTW, I stopped doing pirate kill missions for this very reason, well before 2.1 came out.

I had always heard that the interdiction itself was a hostile act, and should let you fire on them first.

They usually hit me before I can turn around to shoot, so it works out well enough for me.

Can't wait to get rid of all the mining gear and go back to my Combat-Exporer-Courier configuration of the Vette

Lost 400 tonnes of Cargo plus a 92K fine. Before Hwake near a Station i reset yet again the Turrets from Fire at Will to fire at Target, appears to be a bug because I now have to always reset the Turrets. Any using the Right Pannel to set the Turrets caused all my Cargo to dump. I always fly with Cargo Hatch Power Off. The Cargo Scoop is on a Toggle Switch 18 and jettions Cargo is a Key Combo, I was no where near that Switch it for me is a right hand reach ahead and over my Center Key Number Pad resting on a block of wood cut at 45 degrees, and is placed between the to HOTAS devices action to reach it. Oh well, did't get shot.

Well, I just tried it and it's not an option for me. I wonder if it was a beta thing, or a bug that's been "fixed".
