Finally figured out a way to stay alive in a High Intensity CZ by myself... only took me a year to found out that staying close to a big ship and acting as its wingman, I live longer. Find the biggest friendly you can find, Anaconda or Python and fight whatever it is fighting. Still doesn't beat fighting in a wing with fellow cmdrs.

Ive just finished moving into Azrael. Nice station. Its bright, I like it. Makes a change from all that grey or olive drab. Hard to spot your docking bay number tho but I'll get used to it. I decided to leave the T9 where the slaves are cheap as I just cannot bring myself to fly it again for a while. Ive got the trader blues. So Im going to play with my Python. Fnarr fnarr.

I made myself grind to Admiral in Fed rank, since I had no interest in doing so again. I went Cutter before the Corvette to trade as well. I've had some fun in combat with a bounty cutter, but it's a whale to try and turn. Easiest to just fly backwards and fire off at the enemy.

Imperial rank grinding was so much slower than 17 Drac pre-1.5 Once I hit Duke, I was gone from Tamar.

The extra tonnage of cargo in the Cutter pays off fast. I make around 2.6 million with 784t of cargo with a quick 3 hop stop (each way) route.

Honestly, I always fly backwards in my python and anaconda anyway, so I'm used to that style of combat. Since the cutter is fast, if not very maneuverable, it might suit my combat style reasonably well, though I imagine I'd only be fending off pirates in it, not taking it to res or CZ.

My tendons are aching just thinking about the grind from lord to duke though.

I have roughly 1,050 charity missions (or more for another type) left to hit King. I'm not looking forward to that, especially since rank nerfing will probably get worse.

I literally didn't even fight in combat outside the training missions until 2-3 weeks ago. I was purely a trader/explorer. After getting interdicted 6 times, in under 100Ls, by the same NPC, thanks to the broken interdiction system at the time, I broke, and spent a ton outfitting my Cutter, turning it into a Bounty Trader. It's funny how fast my interdiction rate dropped once I had a full load of beam, burst, cannons, and missles equipped to my ship. So for me, figuring out to fly backwards was a bit of a great discovery. I'm not a combat player, but I am learning. Up to Novice now.

I can't wait to get more into combat, with a combat outfitted ship, and not something that is trade primary. The python looked like the most fun Medium class ship, besides the FDL.

Anywho, can't play the game right now, since "Issues Detected" actually is affecting me. Oh well, 30% left 'til Elite.

Hello,
Fitted my Cutter as a combat trader when I got her. Just got 6A shields last night. Was using the 6C bi-weaves. Had to get rid of the Class 4 PAC though and replace it with a C3G Beam. Then replaced one of my A Shield Boosters with a C rated KWS. Was thinking of using 6A Prismatics but the power draw was just too much for me to outfit her weapons as I wanted.

However, when I did outfit her with Prismatics it took 4 or more PAC shots from an Asp just to get 1 ring down. 2 C2T bursts, 2 C2G Multis, 2 C3G bursts and 1 C4F PAC. Jump range sucked a bit though.

Have fun, fly safe.

The battlemech in front , the Hunchback, is one of the smaller ones which carries a huge autocannon on it's right shoulder. Used to pilot one of these in MWO and the cardinal rule was to always follow the big guys - like those two hulking Catapults in the picture :)

Thinking about how much the Cutter with the Black Friday paint job resembles a ship Batman would fly... and loving it.

Finally hit Rear Admiral with the Feds tonight, with a minor case of carpal tunnel syndrome to show for it.

Now I'm trying to find a donation heavy system like Taribes in the Empire. I'm still stuck at Lord, and I want a cutter.

I tried Tamar, but that well appears to have dried up, and same with Cubeo... I remember heading there months ago expecting the powerbase for someone to be shoving 25 million dollar missions down my throat because they were just so filthy rich, to be confronted with nothing but donations on the board. (Kicking myself for not taking advantage now.) That system appears to be in boom now.

So, does anyone know of a system with 4 or more empire-aligned factions that are all in bust, but have plenty of food and weapons, so I will be presented with more cash donation missions than I know what to do with?

I think that the only proper grind missions left are sentry kill missions on planets. I've seen videos of people doing them in SRV and Ships, and they look fun.

Also, my wrist knows the pain of charity mission spam.. hurt for weeks after I stopped. Worried I did permanent damage between Drac and Tamar.. (blast you, elite ranks!)

I know you said Cubeo was dead, but did you land at any bases for SRV/Combat planetside missions? If not, I'd recommend it, especially if you're no stranger to violence. About the only thing not nerfed, as far as I can tell, are combat missions on planets.

...yet.

I can only bring myself to do the charity missions for an hour or so. Then my brain tries to garotte me. So I am just going to do it the hard way. I only want a cutter so that I can gleefully sell that barnacle of a T9. In fact, once I have the rank and funds, I might ask Mobius if it is okay to ask my fellow CMDR's to use me as target practice just this once. It'll be worth the loss of credits just for the satisfaction.

I didn't know SRV combat missions were even half as good as donations in their own right, but I've certainly never seen more than two on a board at once. Any suggestions on a good place to load up? I want to get this rank out of the way so I can focus on trading to raise funds. (I could probably get a stock cutter now if I sold my anaconda, but would love to avoid that.)

And bootsam, if you want to blow up your T9 that bad, just let me know. We can go to open or make an ad hoc group. :-D
