Nearly blew up my computer last night after fitting my new gfx card (R9 380 2Gb) and upped to 24G RAM.

ran elite with all the shiny turned on - went well, logged off and the computer just turned off.

felt the top and nearly burned my hand, opened up and everything hot.... Wouldn't turn on for 5 mins - then came back on.

Then it hit me - i had the comp on the carpet to test upgrades and the PSU fan points down = no air flow.

Won't be doing that again in a hurry......

Good lord man. I have multiple sources of air going into and coming out of my pc. Fan on bottom sucking in air, Fan on side sucking in air, two fans on front sucking in air, one fan in back, and one fan on top blowing out the hot air, not counting the aftermarket heatsink+fan combo on my cpu. My computer will sit at 8 degrees c when it is idle and around 28-32 degrees c when I am playing a game. The only way I could increase my cooling performance is if I went liquid cooling.

yeah, ran a test this evening and it only got to 64 degrees in a res with loads of asteroids on very high gfx settings. logged out and dropped to 32 within 3 minutes. I have read it can safely go to 75 - 80 under full load.
