I don't do PP - cos I don't enjoy it.. but it's still in there..

I don't do PVP - too old and decrepid.. but it's still in there..

CQC - meh!! you guessed it..still in there..

Ladies and Gentlemen - it's there for you if you wish to use it..

That others chose to use it is, well, their choice and perhaps for them, enhances their game play.

Will I use the instant transfer..? Only if I feel the need.. Do I care what it is called - 3D Printing..no. (Perhaps we should call it, "Dave"..?)

Am I pissed off that the Wings mechanic is broken - yes.. - but they'll put it right (Eventually )

Engage your fun side and do what you want to do to get what you can out of what is available - discard the bits you see as, "not applicable", (but secretly use it when you need to.. I won't tell )

You're quite right: I also successfuly ignore CQC, PP, PVP, Engineers, etc. None of these things affect the rest of the game (apart from PP and only in a very minor way).

As I tried to point out above, in themselves and taken in isolation these new proposals are innocuous and neutral. 3D printing (FD's phrase, pace Loriath), if applied logically, will undermine the systems and structures that FD have created. If it's possible to recreate a something as complex as a ship, why not apply the same technology to, say, water purifiers or robotics. What would be the effect on the entire commodities market and the missions structure? Where do the dominoes stop falling? How much illogicality can the game take?

Instant transfer goes against everything that DB has been pushing about the size of the galaxy and how effort must be expended to conquer the cast distances involved and how science is accurate - even the science within the game is consistent. We talk about contemporary transport and communications as turning the world into a global village. This mechanism would apply the same sense of scale - everywhere is just next door and not a lot of effort or planning is required to get there.

Similarly controlling spaceships at a distance. This is in a game where you can't find the price of fish in the neighbouring station, never mind the next system.

And please, don't anyone create the straw man argument that instant regeneration and outfitting already exist in the game. These things are entirely personal and have minimal effect on the game as a whole.

Ultimately, it comes down to what each player finds 'fun'. This is being introduced to increase the 'fun' element. I don't find it funny.

Have faith Walter - I don't disagree with you at all.. Stick with it though it's just FD trying to find out what to do..

You, for instance, have put some sterling work in to the understanding of the BGS and willingly shared that hard earned knowledge.

But..Sometimes RL generation of funds prevails over what we would all really like to see from the game.

We'll probably get the hybrid version that will give the masses what they want (to generate revenue) but hopefully give us the elements we need to extract our enjoyment too. I guess though we will all make a few sacrifices (sigh)
