Update took less than an hour.
It's time to give this another go.

I think it was the same for me. I had a football match after work, so didn't get home until past 9pm (US Eastern). I fired up the launcher, started the update, and went to eat dinner. 2.1 was waiting for me when I was done.

I like what I've seen so far. I was not in the Beta, so everything is new. The mission board looks very good, and getting obvious updates in my inbox is better than the guesswork from before.

I am at Apathaam, and managed to get 3 OoM missions to the same system, including some "wet work" that will help the war effort. I got interdicted, and as was always the case lost the mini-game after getting to within a couple of pixels of winning. I had a tough fight against a Cobra IV (I'm in a Python), including a beam laser malfunction.

After that, I had an easier fight against the mission target, an Asp Scout in a wing of 5. I interdicted him and destroyed his ship in short order, then went to witch space without worrying about his 5 "disciples". I was a little confused by the post-mission screen, though, as the "Effect" implied that I was acting against OoM even though they gave me the mission.

Still, that's better than the pre-2.1 mission I got from OoM in Apathaam. They wanted me to go to Azrael and kill Authority ships...

I respectfully declined.

Though I have downloaded and installed the new update I haven't had the chance to play it yet. As from the end of my shift today I have four days off to play it. w00t!

However, I'm a bit worried. I've read so many posts over on the Frontier forums where people are kicking off because the NPC are so much tougher and aggressive. Some are saying they are getting ripped apart within seconds of leaving a base. I'm worried the same is going to happen to me and make the same not worth playing anymore. I'm not wanted and I'm way outside the bubble, but I'm worried about what happens when I get back to the bubble. I'm making my way to Sag A (currently 24,000 LY out). I scan every planet and star in every system I jump into so it's going to take months to get there are back to Sol. I guess I'll collecting many millions of krona in scanning data to sell. I have visions of getting back inside the bubble, immediately being attacked by aggressive NPC pirates and losing many months of scanning data by getting destroyed. :(

Hello,
Haven't downloaded and tried 2.1, but from what I've read about the current AI, I'm a bit worried about bringing in my exploration data as well.
It's not as if I am a brilliant pilot. Have had problems with FASs and Condas even before 2.1. But now things seem a bit bad.

Have fun, fly safe. o7

I think I may head back to Sol this weekend (2000 LY away) drop off my exploration data and see how it goes. I may jump straight back to where I left off on my journey to Sag A. I'd rather lose 2000 LY worth of exploration data than 25,000 LY worth.

1. The AI is tougher, but then you get better and they are not so tough; however, expect to die while learning, or avoid higher ranked NPCs and run fast and early.

2. If any explorer requests an escort in this forum, they will have an armada waiting for them - of course, you can still only have 3 wingmates. Also, I think submit & run still works if interdicted.
It's time to give this another go.

I travelled from Azrael to Founders last night (something like 18 jumps in the Vette) and didn't get interdicted once, whether this has anything to do with the ship or rank I don't know, but I was carrying exploration data.

I know that in a decent Asp Azrael is only 3 or 4 jumps into the bubble if you approach it from the correct place.

So I don't think explorers have too much to fear, but like Roger says, ask for an escort and I'm sure lots will jump in to help

I don't know if it's just me but since the Engineers update I find that the temperature "attacks" on my ship when near a star seem to be a lot more aggressive.

I've also noticed that even when far away from a star, when you activate your jump drive the heat builds up rapidly.
