Yeah, ammo and shields are the only limits to near-RES hunting. And that dang Python that blasted me to spacedust faster than I could use shieldcells. "I used to be a bountyhunter too but then I took a torpedo to the canopy!" ;)

I find bounty hunting very profitable, although I seem to have better luck with USS rather than Nav Beacons.
I always show my face... I'm old and I got over it. :D

It's definitely not as profitable but u can find some good spots or hunting quest worth a lot. For many it's not as much about the money but the thrill of the fight/hunt. Just like exploring isn't as much about the money as it is about the journey.

If the game was only about making money, we might as well be playing with Excel sheets... :)

Exactly why I refuse to even use spreadsheets for anything game related. Suddenly it makes it all feel way more like office-work. LOL

the hunting will get nerfed too in 1.1
the endless stream of pirates in RES gets nerfed.

Scarstitchez wrote:so is it just the systems I am in? I mean seriously all I ever see are sidewinders mostly in both RESs and Nav Beacons. If I pick a faction and start ranking up will that improve bounties maybe? Sorry for being so newbish.

I'm piloting a mostly upgraded Viper and have been hunting near the Arque (Alliance)/Vucub Huan (Federation) Systems (not too far away from Leesti) and have found a handful of nice hunting spots in the surrounding systems (roughly 100 - 200k per hour). It's also not too far away from an Imperial system (Codorain), so I have all three factions close by if I ever need to cash in.

For me though, Bounty Hunting is just another awesome way to enjoy what ED has to offer! Sure, it's nice to cash in my hard earned credits for some sweet mods. But at the end of the day, for me earning credits is just a means to an end... what I love is the hunt, and the well earned thrill of pulling in a high bounty (usually from braving a dogfight with an Anaconda/Python). Just as Corsaire31 said, "If the game was only about making money, we might as well be playing with Excel sheets." The important thing is that you play the way you want to play... if you're having fun, nothing else really matters. Even if that means Bounty Hunting only becomes that fun little thing you do between highly profitable Trade Routes. :-)

Tbh, hunting gives me the thrill, I do trading now and then to take a break.
My tactic is to find a system with high anarchy faction influence (10%+) and go nav beacon hunting (althogh RES is also good I do it when I get bored with nav beacon). Atm I'm in Tai Shenef, bounty hounting. The added bonus is that ships tend to drop minerals like palladium and there is a BM 2 Ly away in Vaka.

Also if you want more of an adrenaline rush I suggest you do the following - go to some small independents faction within some system, get a bounty. That way when u're at the nav beacon other bounty hunters will go after you. Since you don't have a system wide bounty (with system controlling faction) they'll get a bounty themselves and u can kill them without penalty (this is also a very valid tactic for finishing the kill bounty hunters bounty mission) and you get to fight 2-3 ships simultaneosly.

I am trying to do bounty hunting missions but can never get any targets to count. I go to the system it says to "Look for Bounty Hunters", target ships and look for the ones labels "Wanted" and kill them. These do not count on my mission, where and what do I look for to know if a ship is a "Bounty Hunter"?
