Just done a 3,000ly round trip in an Asp doing some exploring.

Used the 10million prize for top 15% in the CG to kit out a ship with maximum range and fast scoops. I was getting no indications from detailed scans that the unexplored systems were really unexplored so I came back to civilisation to sell my data. Endured an age of messages telling me I'd dicovered new planets, so it does seem to work after all.

Now I'm wondering if I should get back to RES farming, because it's fun, or go out on a really long trek to find my own Earth-like...

I did make Viscount though. Mission came up after the CG closed.

Just finished leg one of my journey from the where the game started me to the Sol system. That is about 10% of the journey.

Attempting to trade on the way but this is slow going through anarchy systems with very few stations. Those I do find are all refinaries so don't buy what I'm carrying. (all a learning curve)

After about 30 missions for the Fed's I finally ranked up to Warrant Officer from Petty Officer. Don't know why, but that section wouldn't let me advance quickly.

Indeed, the mission grind seemes to get harder as ranks progress. Had the same in fed last week. Took me 4 to 5 hours to get to baron in empire over weekend. Seems to help though to do missions for major and minor factions in nearby systems simultaniously. Hope 1.3 will come with advanced mission options.
