Chose option 4 myself. I don't like PP. Not only because I don't flipping understand it, but also because it seems to me if you need to defend your own faction against an opposing faction, be it player or NPC, you will need at some point to start on the PVP route, which I pretty much totally detest these days, and I joined Mobius precisely because it's anti PVP stance.
This was probably because of a number of years spent in EVE and meeting the many assholes there, who want only to be able to engage in PVP against traders and miners mainly, or hopelessly outclassed low level fighting ships driven by low trained players, when they are not taking part in large scale visual blobs of time dilated rubbish against each other for control of all space systems.
I ended up being drawn into that type of play myself and found it very disquieting. One day I woke up thinking I do not like what I am doing to other people, who do not understand the process of thought that dictates to have a good time in a multiplayer video game, it seemed to be necessary to go off on a rampage with like minded individuals and take apart some harmless and innocent players, just to have bragging rights on a stupid kill board, or in a forum.
I do see a few similarities to that style of play rearing it's ugly head a little in ED of late, and PP seems to me to encourage it somewhat. So at least option 4 keeps me at arms length for now from the group, in case it finds itself in a situation in the future where it would possibly need to go PVP to protect its own system. Which is something I never felt was in the spirit of what I joined kickstarter for ED in the first place. Player owned space seems to be infiltrating this game a la Eve to me. I may be wrong but I am getting a little nervous of the course I see ED is tacking towards in some oblique way.
But at least in a worse case scenario I can play private group or solo to avoid these shenanigans if I have to in ED unlike Eve.
