Battle ready a 'Conda or grind for the Corvette?

I have like many the luxury of both however it was not an easy decision for me at first. I had an A spec Battle Conda then when the Vette came along I got one immediately, then sold it 3 days later!!
However this was before the additional class 4 weapons had been released, as much fun as it was having 2 x C4 PA's realistically in combat they are a serious waste as they are opportunistic things at best and I want all weapons to have maximum on target time for the highest efficiency.
So couple of weeks ago I bit the bullet and decided to give it a go again and re-bought the Vette. I have been to see the RNGneers and it now has to be one of the most fun ships I have, jump range is reasonable with an FSD modification which was another of my issues, the puny standard jump range. Think my range is about 15.5 lys now.

I have a Lvl 1 power plant upgrade, Lvl 1 Heavy shield boosters, Lvl 3 FSD upgrade, Lvl 3 dirty drive (Thrusters), lvl 1 light weight shields.

I find I am using it when i want to do mat's and commodities for upgrades, also now I no longer run from interdiction's, and can comfortably go in to threat lvl 4 USS's and survive ok, shields are strong enough to last till the cops turn up and start helping out.

It is far more capable in combat than my modified Conda now, where as pre 2.1 preferred the Conda.

My biggest problem is the grind to get the Vette. I am currently post commander 30%ish so have what 2-3 more ranks to make. Ranking is just so boring. I really wish they would overhaul the military so you could actually enlist and get real missions for military to gain rank not just doing random stuff and getting made into an Admiral!

I hate grinding, but because I support The Order of Mobius I cant just get ranked up by playing the game. I have to go right out of my way to be able to do it.
