The DSS gives, I think, about 30% or so more credits so can be worth it on a long exploration trip as the money builds up, for just jumping around the bubble the increase probably isn't worth it if you need the slot for something else.

However, FD said yesterday
- We will be adjusting the way the surface scanner works to allow you to see what materials are available from any given planet. This should make locating materials far easier.

So in future it could well be worth it.

She has a Level 5 FSD range increase applied and has a jump range of just under 48LY.

I find the Cutter to be a good money maker to fund other ships

My Anaconda build can be found when clicking on my sig and looking at the details under the Fleet Entry. 30+LY, for long range exploring I would swap a cargo bay for an extra AFM. No weapons but various defensive measures to give me time to jump out if needed

Couldn't afford both, was just under the wire for it. I'll have the cutter again one of these days, along with my corvette as well.

Love the build.

It flies better than a blimp except in cruise and trying to land on a planet. I have bottomed out more with the Cutter than any other ship. And I mean from even when I started playing lol.

Thank you Myrm. I think I've got that now, I'll store it away in my tiny brain, it's a basic low paying scan only.

Managed to put a lvl 4 upgrade on my vette, she can now do 17.4 ly jump range fully combat ready with military armor :)

Lucy is turning into a real multipurpose power house :D

ANYWAY I am actually thinking of putting together a trade cutter, pretty close to being able to get one... do you think it would be worth it for me? you seem to have experience

Trade Cutters make around $10mil per hour or more on an A-B-A route. They drive like pigs on sleds, but are a money maker. :)

It is the pimp 5000 version of the t9, if you know that going in it won't disappoint. And If you do regular trading it will definitely be worth it.

Remember. Unless you loose it it won't cost more than 21 mil (less if you find it discounted, hint Denton patreus) and I would make that back in less than two hours doing a-b-a trading.

I pretty much made as much on my trade rank with the cutter in three weeks as I did in the previous six months.

It also makes a great miner, but I personally prefer the anaconda for that.

Also I hear it can now with a few upper end fsd range mods make It an excellent long range hauler.
Just running standard transport mission out of sothis/fehu etc is rumored to make a lot of moolah.

I have done ok in combat with a cutter, particularly when I have backup, but of course it truly shines as a trade ship for making money.

That said, I'm a few thousand LY outside the bubble on an exploration trip right now, after putting a level 5 FSD range increase on it, among other things. Even with a fairly serious combat loadout, I'm still getting 25ly jumps. It would probably be further, but mine is a VERY heavy build. Full weapons including huge, and the A8 powerplant and thrusters aren't helping me on the scales either.
