re the Merope barnacle, as soon as the meta-alloy CG ended, it started appearing again for me as per normal. for quite a time it would only show in Mobius and if another CMDR was present* - i.e. i could see it in another's instance, but it would not spawn in my own. it wasn't random either, it was 100% repeatable

* thanks to CMDR Mobius for letting me farm the barnacle for the CG, even though he got there first
