An engineer, of which I am, would also design a slot either end. One for in and the other for out.

It would also have a traffic control policy.

Maybe the radial gravitational stabilisation hub Doesn't work if the station has a hollow through the middle to allow an in and out slot

On a different note regarding station engineering and construction... I was heading out the station the other night, 'twas a coriolis type and I was looking at my nav panel to select my destination - in my Headphones was a Woosh noise... Quickly panned back and those big arms that are attached to some of them missed me by inches !! I mean! What are those arms for?? Near death experience!

Probably.....Them bastard things have got me twice......

Lucky I happened to have 4 pips in shields both times....

I just seem to forget about them and come out and turn towards my destination and BANG......Ohhh shite.....

Must make a mental note to fly further away from the station....

My thoughts, exactly. If the opening were round then it wouldn't matter if it was spinning :P Would certainly take the sting out of docking :)

Oh and lets go in the front and out the back :P That's how we work and seems to be ok

Might think about how much energy the station needs to operate a Force Field capable of keeping the Atmosphere inside the station as well as allowing the ships through. If the openings were larger and at either ends, would they be able to create enough energy to keep those fields in place? Also, since the force field can allow ships in, if the size were increased, would there be more bad stuff being able to enter such as radiation or space debris? There is enough debris in the station as it is due to the Horrible pilots being killed for Loitering and such.

This is true but then we'd also have to address allot of things that the game has made into fact that simply is not so.

Like in space, any object that is set in motion stays in motion until an equal and opposite force is applied to it to stop its trajectory and if I am not mistaken, the speed increases over time. Presuming that what I just said is correct, then how come weapons have a 3 km range? Also the whole concept of FTL travel is fiction at the present state of our technology. Also and this based upon allot of FTL discussions. "FTL travel aka supercruise is not even possible within a system. Initiating an FTL drive for a tenth of a second would boost a ship out of a solar system. Of course the whole FTL premise is such that it created to sustain the fiction it is place in. The whole thing if giving me a headache much like Time Travel and the whole "Terminator" story premise. lol

I still want a round a hole :P

Why? Light takes 8 minutes to reach the earth from the sun. So if you set off from earth at 4 times the speed of light, it would still take you 2 minutes to reach the sun.

Hutton Orbital is what? 0.22ly from it's star, at 2000 times the speed of light it's still something like an hours travel.

This is the thing that bugs me, when you take out a ships power plant that's travelling a something like 100km/s why the hell does it suddenly stop, but I don't even with full reverse thrust, the number of ships I run into when their power plant goes down...
