Thanks, Loriath. I backed them up this weekend - but forgot the one in the F_D folder.
Still debating blowing everything off and doing a clean install; suspect it will depend on how many spare files ED:H leaves from old installs.

here's another thanks for the heads-up, i had been building a mission stack over the past week which i didn't want to lose
i went into emergency panic mode and did a major grind, 160 pirate kills over 4 systems, and 3 of those systems don't have RESes so a lot of USS hunting went on, but i got it all done and my list is now clear.
