Just crappy cause I had about 1.5 mil in bounties built up. So with my Python that's about about 5 mill! And im careful who I target or I couldn't get it that high. No stray shots, No wanted status, Nothing. Anyway, im going to bed. Im dejected and pissed. I hope I get to blow his ass up in my dreams!

If he was in the heat of battle, the NPC symbol bug might be a reason (players showing as NPCs in HUD) -- though strange that he did attack while you were not wanted. Let's wait and see.

don't forget you can get missions to kill bounty hunters/traders and authority vessels, i don't take many of those type of missions so i'm not entirely sure but it could be if the player in question did take one the person he attacked may have shown up as a mission target. that combined with the solid box bug could account for it as he may have gone after the mission without even noticing the cmdr name.

Similar thing happened while I was playing with some friends where one of my wingmen shot another CMDR in the heat of battle (think it was a beam laser that wasn't terminated quickly enough) and so all of his wing turned purple to us and we all turned purple to them. Next thing we know one of the other CMDR's wingmen is attacking my friend because he was purple and before he knew it he had killed him, followed by "Oh shit..I think I just made a big mistake".

Sometimes its easy not to realise you are shooting another CMDR if you are in the zone and only realise your mistake afterwards.

In the end the CMDR apologized and gave back all the money that was lost due to the death. I am sure this will be sorted out for you too.

He knew. I tried sending local text asking him why he was attacking and to please stop. No reply. I was boosting out, spinning, and SCBing like mad. He knew what he was doing and did it anyway.

while he may not have seen your message, he would have had indicator that there was text in local

While I agree battlefog is a real thing, I also hope I would notice if a targets stops behaving like an npc.

Chat function in this game is ridiculously unreliable since anyone can shut them off local chat included and while running around doing bb missions seeing "ooh good I found you" times as many missions you have going on every freaking jump I have been tempted too.

One sure fire way to see if another player is in your instance is the bandwidth monitor (ctrl+b) But it's kind of immersion breaking.

This is one of the many reasons we need a dedicated, official PvE shard. We have to do all the work policing our group, and you better believe Frontier doesn't hand down punishments to those who break private group rules.

The result? We're left open for trolling, which has apparently happened multiple times. Nothing we can do about it, though, being the second-class citizens we are to Frontier.

That's what pisses me off the most about this game. You can't enjoy the galaxy because of low-brow knuckledragging mouthbreathers who somehow think humanity's going to get past Mars in 1300 years - let alone develop FTL travel and learn how to terraform - by attacking one another for da lulz.

I'm embarrassed and ashamed that I was ever a PvPer. Fighting other humans is RETARDED. -Sid

While it's no alleviation for frustrations, there are, unfortunately quite a few ways that things can escalate out of hand rather quickly, especially in densely populated zones like CG's and around Azrael. It has been my experience that most commanders pay very, very little attention to local chat, and in the heat of the moment it is understandably hard to scroll into the social menu and send direct message to the ship attacking you--you CAN do this, and your text will show up bright yellow in their log, but most commanders don't realize this or take advantage of the feature (you can message people that aren't on your friends list if they are in the same instance as you.)

I'm not trying to downplay how much it sucks to lose millions of credits, nor am I trying to discount the fact that if this act was perpetrated maliciously and opposing Mobius ideals, the perpetrator will be summarily removed from the group. But there have been individuals in the past who have been prematurely booted because of misunderstandings, so we try not to be too hasty.

This is not a regular occurrence, and feel free to continue the discussion, I just want to caution against too much vitriol. This is a very large group of friends and awesome folk, and I would love to advocate that we do our best to understand first, before yelling loudly for revenge and comeuppance.
