Edit: But imagine finding such an object in the Elite universe.

I totally agree. Just recently finished reading them and thought that the spikes at the end of the stations remind me of the spikes which send out the colourful auras when Rama is ready to make a maneuver.

When first playing ED I was amazed at the size of the stations interior. Now I am over that I want to see a really massive station. Maybe on the scale of a Dyson Sphere from an old Star Trek Next Generation episode which had Scotty in it.

Co-incidentally I was reading about an interview with the actor Morgan Freeman, who said that one of his ambitions is to see Rama made into a film. Now that I would go to see!
