There should be more documentation.

I take an opposite view. Finding out how things work has been part of the challenge. Just like life, making mistakes is how you learn to get better. I've been really disappointed with some of the contributors to the main Elite forums who ask for this or that feature to be made simpler. (I like the orbit lines and would like even more info on screen at any one time.) I'm rather hoping that the lack of an official single point of information is a deliberate policy by Frontier. Look at the communication it has engendered and the sense of community, where players share their knowledge and experiences. It's more than a game and it's part of the wider experience.
Yes, it is frustrating at times, but it's a lot simpler that filling in the annual tax forms (or even the monthly VAT returns, but I do admit that that is not meant to be enjoyable).

You need to back up a file from a Frontier Development folder in App Data> Local. I'm at work atm so will post better instructions later if someone doesn't beat me to it. Thery should have put an option for this in the game.

If you use Firefox and VoiceAttack, I have an HTML page that will summarise your keybinds and voice commands. I'm afraid it doesn't work in other browsers.
If anyone's interested, I'll make a download zip file.
(Yes, I know VoiceAttack will create an HTML file of your commands, but this combines the two.)

I have lost my bindings a few times when using EDTracker, if I decide to have a session without it it defaults to Keyboard and Mouse, nearly lost my Cobra with that when launching from a station.

Started saving it during Beta testing as a few times I lost it all during a wipe.

EDIT... if you can't see your AppData folder you need to set the folder options (Tools - Folder options... View Tab) to "Show Hidden Folders, Files, and Drives" also you may see a Frontier_Developments folder, ignore that one.

You mean the manual that you have to download and was out over a week after the game was? Yea not seen it. lol After searching there have been several that have made the same mistake. You are correct on the location in the menu, however I just took it as to be a clear on controls. Never seen such an option to wipe everything in an MMO without a much more clear definition of what the option did. (password/user name needed to be typed to confirm) That being said Yea I f#$ed up. I do like the fact the game does not hold your hand, as I do not like "easy" games, was just a misunderstanding on my part. I thank you for your offer, think I am gonna give it a go again, because I doubt they will restore it. On the good side though, I will add that they did at least give me back my free eagle to sell for a quick 40k to get me back in a hauler faster to grind.

Well I don't think the 'hand holding' part should refer to menu options. There should definitely be a popup verifying that you want to clear all information, especially in games like this where you can put huge amounts of time into your character.
