Community Goals are not "private" for the private group?

I was accepted into the private group earlier today (or during the night), thank you for that by the way, and noticed something. The group has 443 (ish) members on Xbox One.

But the community goal for trading to Rakapila shows 8,537 contributors.

So I assume then that community goals count everybody on the Xbox One? Or are community goals not related to platform so that 8,537 contributors are from PC, Mac, Xbox One and now recently PS4, combined?

When discovering the trading databases I think I read that prices are shared across all platforms. Sort of like we're all playing on the same server, but we can only see people on our own platform (and private group).

Is this about right?

Yep, you are correct. If you were to play in Open, you would be playing with any players currently playing on the same platform. If you are playing in a private group, you will only see the people who are in that private group, and solo mode would be just you and the Npcs. Although you can only play with other people on the same platform, the games background simulation, economy, community goals and similar game progress related things are synced across all platforms. One of the many things that make Elite great. So when they say that the outcome of things in this game depend on the player base, it really does in that sense.

Now I just have to sit out the timer for the CG's and reap the rewards, time to make dinner I guess. Currently standing to earn 13.6-7 million credits, and I currently have 2, so I'm going all in for bounty hunting with a vulture later tonight

But good to know that the reward tiers are not limited to the people in the private group, or on Xbox One for that matter, as that would probably make it hard to advance past the first couple of tiers.
