Funny story, to me.

So last night, in the last few hour that I play, I do bounties in my Corvette. I decided to go to HIP 1914 instead of HIP 5700 this time. Try and build some rep in other locations. I get there and head to a HAZRes. Having fun, took out a few conda's which is awesome. Conda's, FDL & Pythons tend to give good payouts. Any ways, after taking down this Conda, I set my sites on a wing of 3. Vulture, Eagle and can not recall other. I am all, no problem! So I do my warrant scan on all 3, and start attacking the vulture. As I am fighting them, I am realizing a few things. Wow, these guys are more maneuverable than usual! Having to toggle flight assist on and off more than usual. Yet holding up pretty damn well. Having to do to much of the jousting thing, which I dislike. I can usually boost away if I cannot get them in my sights and on top of me, 180 FA off, boost back and able to keep them in my sights once I got them (Thrust up/down back or just down or up-depending on where they are helps alot! And how I ram the hell out of big ships!). Any ways, I then also realize those shields are taking longer than normal to take down. They should have been down in a matter of seconds! Dang, so is the hull, much harder than normal! I do what I sometimes do, get them very low and them start working on the others to get them all on me, playing a tank of sorts. I often get them down to a few % and let my NPC wing pilot finish them off while I start on others. My NPC goes down quick, did not finish them off. Vulture is running around. I am all working on the third after really hurting the eagle some. They are down. Back to the eagle, they start running and faster than I recall them to be. But they make a mistake and turn around, see me gunning for them and try to get away again. Sorry dude, your dead. I quickly do a 180 and boost back to get the last one. Their hull is a 5% or something (maybe more), shield regenerating. Go in for the attack and they high tailed it out of there, FSD'd.

Only used one cell bank in mid fight, even though I did not need to. But was overheating from their attacks and overheating myself firing everything at them. So I said , screw it, down a almost ring, might as well pop one and a heat sink and solve multiple issues at once!

After the fight, I am recalling everything that happened. Wondering why my weapons were not doing the damage they have been doing. So I head to the nearest Orbital, transfer my other weapons over there just to compare again and make sure.

While waiting, I accidentally hit escape.
I see "OPEN PLAY".

Then it all made sense. I just PvP against 3 players. Granted, they were not as high ranked as me and I am only Dangerous. Really was not paying attention to names. I just select, scan, your wanted? I fire! For me, I was damn proud of myself since my ship was set for a PvE environment. As for PvP I would have a different set up and more hull reinforcements just in case.

Was extremely impressed with my shield set up. Bi-Weave Thermal. 3x heavy duty boosters (all at 62%). 3xResistance Augmented boosters. 2x HUGE Gimbal MC Incendiary, 1xLarge Gimbal MC Corrosive, 2x Med Gimbal Pulse Rapid Fire (No specials), 2x Small Gimbal Pulse Rapid Fire (Spectrum, even though I need only one. I like to try and increase my chances. But may still switch one). Which is better than the 4 pulses as MC inc. Huge different taking hulls down since Inc turns into thermal. Pulse & Plasma have good armor pen.

Any ways, may not be much to most of the players who have been around or I could have alternatively had my ass handed to me. But for me, I got all happy at how well I did, mostly my flying. Impressed with how well I stayed on top of them, until they starting running in different directions. I forgot how much of an adrenaline rush good fights like that are (Old WoW PvP'er). Granted, I made a few mistakes because I was slacking around, knowing I can wreck any and all PvE ships and thinking I was in PvE, merely there to test my weapons some more. But that fight woke me up some. Part of me feels bad at the same time. They did not attack me,I attacked them because they were wanted. But hey... you pirating? I SHOOT! Coming from some one who even refuses to transport imperial slaves!

From your report it was an honest mistake and you should not feel too bad about it, in the contrary I guess.
