Banned from Mobius?

It matches the Mobius rules when two Cmdr both enter a conflict zone and when both did choose their faction to fight for and when they then begin to shoot each others when opponents in the conflict zone.

While I think it is kind of silly to be a member of a private group called "Mobius PVE" and then actively fight 'against' the minor faction called The Order of Mobius...

No - "Mobius" is just another name for Open PVE since we don't have that. The Order is just a minor subset of players. There is no requirement, or even expectation, that players that play in Mobius groups are to support The Order or Mobia in any way.

Waited for an answer while killing enemy ships in the meantime. Then I attacked the commander. He fought back until his shields dropped. Then he combat logged. I was banned the next day. I PMed the admins

If these were the actual events, then the commander reporting you should be banned for griefing in my opinion.

The problem here is the understanding of the facts of the event that took place. The allowable PvP in CZ's and the grey area that it creates is ultimately the cause of the misunderstanding.

Nope. Just saying that maybe third parties (this includes myself) shouldnt rush to judge a situation based on assumption of fact.
I do hope that both parties (reporter and reported) get some further explanation on the situation.

A complete quote on my post would have showed that was exactly my point.
While I think it is "silly" to actively fight against the minor faction of the same name as the private group, I did agree with the OP and that it is not against the rules.
Joining the private group does not mean required allegiance to its minor faction. And there may even be times when a cmdr's personal interest is in conflict with the minor faction.

Just to add to this thread, I was in the cz when Cmdr Smior came in to it. He remained neutral and hailed me to say he was just scavenging! This you cannot do without shooting ships IIRC. He remained in the CZ without deploying weapons for quite some time. I suspected he may have been waiting for my shields to drop and then select the opposite side and pounce! As a combat Elite with a fully engineered vette this did not happen and I left the cz with him still remaining.
On TS I mentioned this to a trusted player of lower rank than me. He told me later that he encountered Cmdr Smior and he waited until his shields were almost down when he jumped him! This is against the rules and hence the reason why Smior was kicked!

You were the first player I encountered that day. I hadn't decided which side to join yet because I didn't know which factions were fighting. I was scavenging from ships you were destroying. I wouldn't have picked a fight there anyway after declaring neutrality.

The reporting commander is lying. They were given a message "want to duel?" and then 5 minutes before I attacked. We fought for about 1 minute before they logged.

Despite playing in Mobius for 2 years, open is sounding more appealing now. I'd rather share a space with griefers than lairs.

Just as an aside, people are more than free to join Mobius (the PG) and be in opposition to The Order of Mobius. While it OoM shares its name with the PG and has a place on this forum, they are two separate entities. One is a place you can play the game with reduced fear of PvP and the other is a role-play/in-game/in-game-universe faction

This is s subject that should be brought up with the admins and it is unfair to discuss in public (IMHO) as it tends to lead to name calling and mud slinging. If anyone has an issue with their group membership it should be brought to the attention of the admins (not me I am merely a mod for the forum) using the form: memberlist.php?mode=contactadmin

I am going to lock this thread for now while the problem gets sorted.
