A passenger mission took me to Jardonnere 6 B Ice Geysers. They blast stuff out the ground pretty hard. So of course I did that one thing I could think of. See what happens when I drive my SRV over it..

Well now, after losing some hull, I know. It threw me up in to the sky about 1 km high. At that point I wanted 16 pips to engines but nothing happened after first 4. Thankfully it threw me sideways too so my fall was cut short by a mountain range. Only 29% hull lost so pretty happy with the outcome. Only thing I regret is forgetting to start recording with OBS..

I had no idea you could use ice geysers to launch your SRV into the air...

...I know what I'm going to go do this evening.

Yup, those ice geysers are amazingly powerful. Rumor has it that one of my wingmen launched off of an ice geyser and used thrusters (on a low G planet) and achieved 3k of air.... well..... vacuum.

Not actually rumor. It's a fact and I was there to witness it, but was too stupid to get video. It was a blast to watch, and he ALMOST stuck the landing. By almost I mean that he only lost 97% of his hull on the initial impact, followed by a small explosion on his next tumble. 8-)

Scratch one SRV.

Well now that I've settled into Ohm City with my new Viper MKIV, I finally started upgrading to be able to do some mining. After some trial and error finally figured the limpets out, and man do I love mining now! Didn't realize til last night that you could go mining in the rings of planets, that would've saved me a lot of time earlier in my career, lol!

Been wondering if you can only find these geysers if you follow passenger missions. Been trying to find them out in the wild, but got tired of it and quit trying after the 3rd attempt at flying around the planet, 5km above the surface.

Also been wondering if these geysers are only at planets near the bubble.

Have fun, fly safe. o7

I am going to continue missions for non weapon eng options today. I see no point gathering bits if after beta they might not (hopefully) be needed.

Pretty irritated that effectively you can collect stuff for engineers or fly combat silliness with your wing. (Storage or get rid of)

No, there should be geysers or volcanic fields on any planet listing volcanic activity, but only in certain locations.

These are static and persistent.
I guess they added these markers with 2.2 cause otherwise people would look for coordinates online and hunt for them manually.

There's one spot we like in the a-team where we have gotten around 3km of "air time" .

Hey I'm Thor -
People call me Bob.

Rule 1: Pillage. Then burn.
Rule 2: No such thing as overkill, as long as there are reloads.

Maybe I'll give another planet a try since I'm still out in the black.
I did try to follow one co-ordinate. Found the non-sentient lifeform but no geysers.

Edit: Although CMDRs having to keep a spreadsheet of these things does not give me much hope.
